Panasonic Viera TC-P54S1 Plasma Review

The picture presentation of the 54S1 is exceptionally bright for a plasma TV. Black levels are deep and strong with an HD signal input through HDMI. While not the best we've seen lately, they lose the dark gray haziness that the S1 displays with a 480i signal. Color is plenty saturated and dark shadow detail remains excellent. Panasonic Viera TC-P50G10 Plasma Review

This Panasonic offers an unusually bright picture for a plasma television. Black levels are somewhat compromised with normal television signals and contrast is competitive though not great for a plasma TV. Aesthetics are a highlight. I really like the thin gloss frame with bevel rounded edges. The framing bezel is just a touch over 1.5" - Great! The graduated silver bar in the bottom of the frame adds a nice 3-dimensional touch. Panasonic Viera TC-P50X1 Plasma TV Review

When we wrote our initial comments regarding the 50X1 plasma from Panasonic in March when the units were introduced we were under the false assumption that this Panasonic model, though 720p rather than 1080p would preserve the excellent black levels for which Panasonic is known. We were wrong. The black levels are not sufficient to garner a good picture quality rating. We were right about the price coming in low. It can be found for a stunningly low price. We still maintain that 720p (as the X1 contains) is sufficient for 95% of programming out there even on a 50" screen if the processing is solid. Panasonic Viera TC-P42X1 Plasma TV Review

We accurately predicted back in March 2009 that the price on the X1 720p models would be compelling. The TC-P42X1 can be purchased for around $750 at Best Buy or Amazon as of June 2009. The 50X1 is only a couple hundred dollars more so we were somewhat disappointed by the 42X1 price. We suspect Samsung's PN42B450 model is a better performer at a slightly lower price. The LG 42PQ30 also shows promising features in the 42" size at around $700.The 42" size range for plasma is really seeing a lot of competition from LCD TV models.

Panasonic TH-50PZ85U vs. Samsung PN50A650 Plasma TV Review

Panasonic and Samsung have a strong battle going for the top spot in 1st Tier plasma sales and both have alluring new products arriving summer of 2008. The Samsung plasma model tested represents the companies 2nd tier plasma product, while the TH50PZ85U Panasonic plasma is that company’s 3rd tier plasma TV product. However, these two products cost about the same. Both have one or two plamsa’s still to come in 2008 with higher cost and more features.

The Panasonic TH-50PZ85U manufacture date on the model tested is February, 2008 assembled in Mexico. The Samsung PN50A650 manufacture date is April, 2008 assembled in Tijuana, Mexico. So both models are new spring 2008 release models first shown at CES 2008. This Panasonic Plasma is the 11th generation, while the Samsung is a 6th or 7th generation plasma. Panasonic Viera TH-46PZ85U Review

Finally! A plasma TV manufacturer has attacked the 46" size product category. It's about time as this is a very popular size and LCD TV manufacturers have been dominating it. The TH-46PZ85U is a 3rd level product in Panasonic's lineup for 2008. There are two premium models with more features in the PZ800U series and the PZ850U series products. We'll leave the upgrade commentaries for another article. Still, even as a 3rd level offering this plasma television is packed with some strong features, especially in the picture category. The plasma is the brightest I've ever experienced and with the anti glare technology present in this plasma it is a true competitor to the best LCDs even in a bright light environment. Panasonic TH-42PX75U Review

This entry level Panasonic plasma TV did not spare any technologies concerning picture quality. The up conversion from 480p sources was true original content, realistic, and clean. When viewing Body Heat, the picture was alluring and smooth as Kathleen Turner pleads with her husband not to go down stairs as her lover William Hurt enters the house to kill him. Panasonic TH-50PX75U Review

Plasma still outperforms LCD by quite a bit in picture quality. The TH-50PX75U plasma TV will give the owner a stellar picture, surpassed by very few 50" plasmas on the market and I would venture to say no LCD televisions.
